WCG ThoughtLeader Interview – Alyson Johnson, Wyndham Worldwide

In 1995, hospitality company Wyndham Worldwide launched Women On Their Way, an online resource for female business and leisure travelers to find everything they need to plan and book their next trip.

Today, Women On Their Way is the hospitality industry’s longest-running branded program entirely dedicated to female travelers.

In this edition of the WCG ThoughtLeaders podcast, Alyson Johnson, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Wyndham Worldwide – and the communicator behind Adventures with Alyson, the program blog, as well as the Facebook page and Twitter handle – tells WCG’s Neville Hobson about the program, its goals and use of social media as a means to engage with its audience.

Alyson also offers insight and tips on staying connected with a community and family while traveling.

alysonjohnson Alyson Johnson is Vice President, Corporate Communications for Wyndham Worldwide. With more than 55 brands and revenues of more than $3.8 billion in 2009, Wyndham Worldwide is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies. It employs more than 25,000 people and operates in 100 countries. In this role, Johnson focuses on media relations, corporate marketing programs, internal communications, public affairs and industry relations.

Johnson began her career with Wyndham Worldwide in 2007 as Director of Marketing Communications and Public Affairs.  During that time, she developed and launched the Women on Their Way website and blogs and assisted in the creation and launch of Wishes by Wyndham, the Company’s philanthropy program.

Prior to joining Wyndham Worldwide, Johnson held various marketing communications positions in the golf industry including the 85th PGA Championship at Baltusrol and the Women’s World Match Play Championship at Hamilton Farm Golf Club.

Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Temple University.
